The existing site is used in various educational capacities by various groups including residents, tourists, the children’s museum, and Northwestern Michigan College.
The existing site provides some limited green space, which has been used for public leisure, transportation routes, and fishing.
The existing site provides a bridge to cross the Boardman River, a walkway along the south bank, and a fishing/viewing platform.
